Site Policy
The Foundation is an independent charity dedicated to raising public awareness about the benefits of improving oral health.
This website is controlled exclusively by the Foundation and no other party, partner organisation or sponsor, has influence over editorial content or presentation.
If you have any queries about any of the information on the site, please email feedback@dentalhealth.org.uk.
Information Quality
The Foundation makes strenuous efforts to ensure that all the information on this site is as accurate and objective as possible. However information is provided for advice and guidance only and should not be interpreted as diagnosis, or a substitute for a consultation with a professional medical advisor.
All clinical information (such as in the Public/Frequent Questions section) published by the Foundation is prepared by in-house dental professionals. After editing, it is checked by a qualified dentist, and then reviewed by independent external experts. The document is then analysed by the Word Centre to ensure the language is clear.
The information in the ‘Tell Me About...’ series of leaflets, in print and on the website in the FAQ section, is reviewed and updated at least once a year, to ensure it reflects current medical opinion and clinical best practice.
Answers to enquiries submitted on the Email our Helpline page are regularly monitored for accuracy and quality by the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners.
Email Addresses
Email addresses entered on the site (such as on the Public/Email our Helpline and Profession/Shop pages) are regarded as confidential and not divulged to any person or organisation or other third party outside the Foundation.
Links with other Websites
The Foundation permits other organisations to link to this site from their own websites, providing that proper recognition to the Foundation is made on the page, at the location of the link (i.e. not down at the bottom of a long page). No implication or reference should be made to any endorsement or other formal relationship between the two sites or organisations.
The Foundation chooses which websites to publish links to on the basis of its independent consideration of their value to visitors to its own visitors. It does not place links to purely commercial sites, or other sites promoting a particular brand or service. It is under no obligation to place a reciprocal link on its own site, although it will consider such requests.
The inclusion of a link to another organisation’s website from the Foundation’s own site does not imply the Foundation's endorsement of the organization, website or its contents.
Copyright and Licensing
All information on www.dentalhealth.org.uk is copyright of the British Dental Health Foundation unless otherwise indicated.
Reproduction of material from the Download Centre, or pdf files located elsewhere on the site, or documents from the Press Release section, is permitted for personal, educational or media use.
The Foundation is particularly concerned to ensure that distribution of its information by third parties does not lead to out-of-date information and advice being present on the internet. For this reason it only allows the publication of its information by other parties, in print or on websites, in strictly controlled circumstances.
With this in mind, the Foundation will consider proposals for the licensing of its information or other material on its site in whole or part for use on other sites. In such cases there will usually be a fee and specific conditions of use attached to such an agreement.
Permission must always be sought from the Foundation at pr@dentalhealth.org.uk before systematically reproducing any material in any publication or website, or for other commercial purposes.
